A devastating 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck Japan on March 11, 2011, triggering a catastrophic tsunami and radiation leaks from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The sudden earthquake, coupled with the tsunami and the nuclear threat, caused a great loss of lives and property. The death toll keeps rising, and everyone is grieved by the losses. The Chinese people all sympathize with Japan's losses in this earthquake. After the catastrophe, Sunyu showed its concern for the victims by immediately donating RMB 100,000 to the earthquake-stricken area through the Chinese Embassy in Japan.
Sunyu has long seen social responsibility as a core value that serves as a foundation for the company. It has made great effort toward integrating such a sense of responsibility into its corporate culture. Whether it was in 2008, when the earthquake hit Wenchuan, or in 2011, when the earthquake struck Japan, Sunyu has always played an immediate, active role in making donations.
The post-disaster reconstruction work in Japan will be conducted on a far larger scale than the efforts that were made after the Great Hanshin Earthquake, so there will be a great many difficulties to deal with. Even though Sunyu is not able to carry out on-site relief work in the earthquake area, it will offer all possible assistance at its disposal to the Japanese victims. All the staff at Sunyu, as well as all the Chinese people who care for Japan, will pray for the best. We will turn our grief into action to help the victims. May Japan soon overcome this catastrophic disaster.
